Privacy

This privacy policy sets out our privacy practices for this website and how your personal information will be treated by us.

This privacy policy was last updated on 15 April 2023.

What we do

We allow "Contributors" - who we call "Thinkers" - to upload videos of how they experience products and services. This is in order to help the organisations who provide those products and services (our clients) to better understand their customers. These clients may use the videos in any way they choose for internal purposes only or privately with their suppliers or retailers (please see the Terms & Conditions for more information).

Information Gathered and Usage

To set up a Watch Me Think account we will, as a minimum, collect your name, the country you currently live in, your year of birth & gender (in market research such things are very important) and email address. We’ll also need your paypal account ID in order to pay you. All email contact will come from @WatchMeThink.com addresses.

We do not pass on your personal information to anyone else.

We use your personal information:

  • For the purpose of managing and dealing with the Content you upload on Watch Me Think’s website;
  • To establish, maintain, administer and update your Thinker Account;
  • To notify you of any requests for briefs that you may be eligible to participate in - these emails cannot be opted out of, only if you close your account;
  • To provide you with feedback, questions or thanks that we or our clients may like to pass on in regard to the videos you upload;
  • To verify your compliance with, and if necessary to enforce Watch Me Think’s Terms and Conditions.
  • To answer any of your concerns, respond with help or fix anything that is wrong.

The additional information we ask for is optional. This includes things such as your post code/zip, household income, living arrangements etc.

If this additional information is provided, we can invite you to take part in specific briefs where the client has requested a more detailed profile of those taking part. While adding this additional information is optional, the more information you provide, the more opportunity there is for you to earn money.

You can update your personal profile information on your profile page at anytime.

The video "content" that you upload on the site will be seen by our clients on a password protected site. It is never placed on external sites unless your permission is expressly given via direct and personal contact with us. You are too important for us to do anything that would obviously make you angry :-)

Please note that if you give out or show personal information in your videos, it is done so at your own risk.

Globally

Our clients are located in many different countries. We constantly endeavour to take such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure that all our clients do not breach Australian Privacy Legislation (where the company was originally founded) in relation to your personal information, wherever this is possible. We additionally insist that our clients do not publish any of your videos in any public website or forum without our (and your) permission.

Additionally - while working for Watch Me Think is contracted “work made for hire”, we voluntarily follow, where appropriate, the principles as set out in the European General Data Protection Regulation, where they do not negatively impact the Terms & Conditions or Lawful Basis of the work we pay you for.

European GDPR

Whilst, in general, this site operates on a work-made-for-hire basis, Watch Me Think will still honour, where appropriate and applicable, the basic principles of the GDPR, as follows:

  • Lawfulness, fairness and transparency

    All your key personal data held in the WMT system is viewable by you in your profile, as are the videos you make under the direction of accepted, paid briefs. We will also respond to any request regarding any additional data that you think we may have as regards your good self.

  • Purpose limitation

    Each brief for which you make videos explains the purpose behind making those videos. These videos will only ever be used for internal research purposes. You will be explicitly notified (pre-brief) or asked (post brief) should there be any request whatsoever to use your video in a wider setting (such as publically). Post-brief requests are entirely dependent on you giving your explicit permission.

    Pre-brief - you must not take part that brief if you object to the stated intended use for the videos.

  • Data minimisation

    We will only ever ask you for information that is relevant to the brief you are paid to make the videos for. You can choose how much or how little information you give. We may store some of this information for a limited time if we think it will help us to stop asking you the same questions over and over again, which we’re sure you’ll be thankful for :-)

  • Accuracy

    You have access to modify and correct your key personal information held by us at anytime by logging into your account. If you feel additional corrections are needed to data that is uneditable by you, or that you think we may hold outside of the application, please get in touch and we will correct and/or remove these for you if they exist.

  • Storage limitation

    The information you give and the videos you make will be held on our servers for as long as they are deemed useful to either ourselves the client that commissioned the video/s under the terms of “work made for hire”.

    However you can request at any time to have your data pseudo anonymized (effectively all text data about you will be erased and replaced by non identifiable pseudo information).

    Accounts that are unused (no-one has logged in) over a 2 year period will be closed and pseudo anonymised.

    All videos will be reviewed at 5 year intervals and those no longer found to be useful will be erased completely.

  • Integrity and confidentiality

    Watch Me Think uses bank level security certificates to secure data transfers. It also uses a secure virtual private server. Your information may also be stored with other services (as listed below) or with our clients. At every step, we will take every reasonable precaution to secure your data against any unauthorised access. If we ever find that this has been breached, we will notify you within 24hrs.

  • Accountability

    Watch Me Think has a nominated Data Protection Officer, has documented its use of all personal data and has policies & processes in place to monitor and escalate any issues that may occur. If you have any questions about your privacy please contact us.
